Mississippi adopted the three-class framework in 2021 through HB 1195, codified at Miss. Code § 63-3-1315 within the John Paul Frerer Bicycle Safety Act. A qualifying eBike has a motor under 750 watts; all three classes are street legal and none requires a driver's license, registration, title or insurance. There is no statewide helmet requirement at any age, though several cities have local rules. You must be 16 to operate a Class 3, and Class 3 eBikes must carry a speedometer. On federal land such as the Natchez Trace Parkway, National Park Service eBike policy governs rather than state law.
